Gerald Liberace, 69, of Nancy Drive, is senior district judge in the township. In addition to indecent assault, he is charged with one count each of endangering the welfare of a child and corruption of a minor. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine on each charge.

According to a grand jury, the daughter of a woman with whom Liberace was romantically involved was alone with him on a night in August 2004 while her mother visited a friend.

According to the grand jury, the girl crawled into Liberace’s bed, and he began scratching her back. He then allegedly reached under her pajamas and panties and touched her, the contact continuing for about 10 minutes.

The girl, now a senior in high school, reported the allegation to authorities in 2009 after telling her family and a therapist.

Delaware County investigators last summer intercepted a phone conversation during which Liberace apologized to the girl, authorities said.

“You know I did things that I guess were inappropriate, and the only thing I can say is that I felt very close to you, and it breaks my heart that you’re not in my life anymore,” Liberace said, according to investigators. “And, well, you know, I, I don’t know what to say. I mean, I’m sorry if I, you know, if I did things that were not proper.”

Liberace was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Rich O’Neil told KCPQ-TV that punching her in the face was an appropriate use of force as the officer struggled with two women and a crowd formed.

He said it was wrong to call the punch police brutality or racist.

Cell phone video shows Officer Ian P. Walsh trying to control two women Monday and punching a 17-year-old in the face.

Acting deputy police chief Nick Metz has said the women bear much of the responsibility for resisting arrest.

Seattle Urban League CEO James Kelly says the punch was an overreaction that brought to mind a video taken April 17 of two Seattle officers kicking a Hispanic suspect.

On Saturday, the defendant of Penndel, Bucks County, is scheduled to complete the journey he started last year as he begins an 11½- to 23-month prison term for criminal charges resulting from that crash.

He pleaded guilty to charges of homicide by vehicle, recklessly endangering another person and driving under the influence of marijuana. It was his second DUI offense.

Killed in the crash was a 31-year-old father of two who immigrated to the United States three years ago.

His widow,  addressed Gavin during the hearing and said her family had struggled since the death of her husband, their sole breadwinner.

“My husband left home at 6 in the morning to go to work,” she told Gavin. “He said goodbye the way he used to say it every day. One year has gone by, and it has not been easy for me to accept his loss. He was a good man.”

Even so, she said she forgave the defendant for the crash.

“No plea or sentence is going to help you or your family,” the judge said. “You are fortunate that you have family that has stood by you and helped you. When all is said and done, it is always family that we have to rely on.”

In Pennsylvania, a violation for underage drinking is known as Possession, Consumption, Purchase or Transportation of Alcohol by a Minor (underage drinking).  If you pay the fine or are found guilty of an underage drinking offense, there is a mandatory loss of your driving priviliges for a period of ninety (90) days even though the incident was removed from a motor vehicle.   That’s right.  The loss of driving priviliges is not related to an underage age drinking violation in a motor vehicle or while driving a motor vehicle.  In addition, a guilty plea to an underage drinking charge results in a criminal record that remains on your record for a minimum of five years.  That means that there may be an alcohol related or alcohol abuse offense on a student’s record when they apply for employment or look to further their education.  Under newly enacted Pennsylvania law,  there is now a right to request an expungement a minimum of five years after the event.

It is signficant of how underage drinking and the criminal offense of driving while under the influence of alcohol are treated.  A first offense of DUI in West Chester and Chester County can offten result in entry to the first time offender program or ARD program with the charges ultimately being dropped after a period of probation.  The ARD program also results in any suspension of driving privliges to be reduced from two months to no license suspension at all.    Compare that with the mandatory penalty of Three months (90 days) suspension of driving privilges as a result of being caught holding a can or cup of beer.
